Tonight me and a few of my classmates went to the Nashville Predators versus Detroit Red Wings hockey game….

Let’s see if I can remember everyone who was there: Racquel, Nadine, Charmel, LaDonna (rooting for the Red Wings), Melantha, Christian, Tifffany, Melani, Nick, Theo, Julian (same one from Saturday’s hockey game), Michelle Jamila, Andrea, and of course me…..did I forget anyone?….I’m sure I did….

Anyway me, Drea, and Mizzle got to the game in time to catch the first fight…..by the time we got some food and took our seats Detroit scored a goal….

That lead didn’t last long however…..for the first time in my 3 years of watching the Predators on and off they really looked good….I was worried for awhile in the first period when they had a two man advantage and couldn’t get a goal out of it….but later on in the same situation they got a BIG goal….

But the highlight was EASILY the number of in-game fights….when the Preds went up 4-2 there were 2 going on at once!!! It was pandemonium….all told there were at least 7 fights that I can think of off hand….then the P.A. system announced that if the Preds scored 5 goals everyone in attendence would get free tacos from Taco Bell!!!….you KNOW your boy got HYPED!

Sure enough Detroit pulled their goalie and the Preds scored that magical fifth goal on an empty netter….I will be cashing in my ticket stub tomorrow more than likely!

Then after the game as the excited Preds fans were celebrating their victory, a few of the more over-sealous ones were yelling over the balcony “You Suck!” at Detroit fans…well one fan in the concourse took offense and yelled out, “Hey FUCK YOU. You guys are FUCKING RUDE!!!” So one of the people with us yelled “Do something then!!!” really loudly….it was GREAT….all of a sudden I felt Drea tugging on me to get me away….I was hoping that there was going to be a drunken white hockey fan fight….I’ve never seen one of those….

Anyway fun was had by all….it was great….almost took my mind off the fact that I’m not in Atlanta right now!….almost

First of all thanks to everyone who joined in my pity party….today was a MUCH better day….to the couple few that thought I was considering suicide….I wasn’t….not even close….remember this entry…..suicide is too much of a cop out and I HATE disappointing/hurting my family….so yeah….the Killa wouldn’t do that!….No way Jose!

Anyway what goes on in Killa world?….alot actually…my cousin Radiance is coming up here for the weekend….TSU’s homecoming is popping off and so she’s staying with me….I have SOOOO MUCH to clean up….and so little time…my house is really not fit for company, but hey….I’mma do what I can before she gets here….

I have a quiz (the first one) in Pharmacology tomorrow AND a skill session over the Lung Examination in Physical Diagnosis….both of them have me shook, but they are coming like it or not, and I will prepare appropriately….

Today was a decent enough day classwise….I’m starting to get a better idea as to what my laboratory unknowns are in Microbiology….I know that 119 is in the Nesseria family (Gonnorhea, Sicca, or Meningitidis)….my enteric unknown is still a mystery, but my enterotube will give me all of the info I need…and I know it’s a lactose fermenter….and you all care about NONE of this so that’s all I will say….

Me and OJ did another show over at Shootin The Gift….it is filled with anger and wrath and should come with a parental advisory sticker….but it’s hella funny also….at least to me and my corny sense of humor….

Also if you look on the side at my links, at the bottom I added a webring that I joined….it’s Blackblogz hosted by DD…the first bracket on the left takes you to the person before me on the list, the second bracket takes you to the list itself, the word “blackblogz” takes you to DD’s page, the bracket on the right takes you to a random site, and the one on the FAR right (last) takes you to the person after me on the list….got all that?….yeah I bet….

Anyway I need to eat and do some studying….

I realized today as I was talking to my PD partner/friend/fellow SNMA officer Ericka that I can be a real downer….I make it seem as if my life is THE WORST….

Don’t get me wrong it’s pretty bad, but everyone has there own trials and tribs right now….I’m not alone at ALL….

I stood out in the hallway looking over the balcony this morning before Microbiology lab and I started to think about my situation and why I was so unhappy….I mean I’m a young man in the prime of my life….I’m in medical school which has always been the goal all along….I have my health….I have a great family and great friends….

So why should anyone pity me?….why should I be unhappy….I’m as bad as these professional athletes scrounging for more money and fame in some regardss….I can’t be satisfied with the status quo….the grass is always greener on the other side….until you are there….

The fact of the matter is that it’s just in my nature to not be fully satisfied with my situation….I guess it’s my drive or initiative or whatever you want to call it….it’s what keeps me going ultimately, even though at times it seems like it’s what’s going to take me under….

It’s good and bad….dangerous yet beneficial….two sides of the same coin….I just need to find some balance there….

You know I can tell all sorts of things about who visits my website, for how long, and what they do while they are here….

For instance…this month more people come here from Max’s page than any other outside website (although alot of people come straight in or have my page as their homepage)….I am getting about 96 hits an hour and 232 unique visits a day….

Most of my visitors come from Meharry’s MMCserver7 which I believe is either their dial-up or wireless web connection….someone at Ga Tech is also giving me heavy traffic….I get alot of referrals from Kthxbi, but alot of that is because I host my avatar for that forum here….so those are empty hits….

The search string that lands people here most often is “zoobilly zoo” but yesterday it was “shake it like a polaroid picture” followed by “drunk games”, “shake it like a polaroid”, and “pimping hoes”….

Most people use Internet Explorer 6.0 and some form of Windows OS….

People have been doing searches for my classmates Theo and Ebon, Rafael De La Ghetto quotes, Curb Your Enthusiasm best episodes, ATL Strip clubs, Scarlett’s Big Booty pics, photos of Joe Theismann’s broken leg, female booty shaken (sic) contests, secrets of a certain black fraternity, and pictures of Arissa Hill….

Most people stay for about 6 minutes….

Most people DON’T leave comments….so I have alot of silent stalkers….don’t be scurred! Say SUMTHIN!!!

I purposefully didn’t change my alarm clock last night….I have a technique to actually get to class on time for once….I hope to trick myself into waking up and rushing to get dressed….it probably won’t work, but hey at least it’s worth a try….

Yesterday was a good day….all told…I got up and put on “doctor clothes” and headed to Community Day to find that I was THE most overdressed person there by far….so I got one of the community day t-shirts and took my ass home and changed….

I came back and idd a few blood pressures, taught a couple people to test blood pressure and then started taking pictures (I’ll have more to say about pictures later on)….I made a bracelet at one table, but my favorite table had to be the Pediatrics club table where I made some green slime!….I came in last night from the party and amused myself playing with it while holding AIM convos….

Towards the end, TaTa came with little PJ who was sleeping HARD, oblivious to the world….it was great seeing the little guy!….as a matter of fact I was enjoying it so much I changed clothes at home and then went home with them….we stopped and picked Julian up from work and planned to play some playstation….

Unfortunately his PS2 was making a strange noise and wasn’t loading ANY kind of disc….I took it to the old school and started hitting the outside of it like how I used to do my old Nintendo…and after about 20 minutes or so we finally got Madden working….in hindsight I shoulda left it the way it was, because Julian handed me a BUTT WHIPPING!….55-14 or something like that in the first game and then 42-35 in the second game (I used the Falcons and he used the Dolphins)….

After the second game we headed to the Gaylord Entertainment Center and caught the Predators vs. Avalanch NHL game….as soon as we were able to see the ice there was a fight in the game….Colorado was in the penalty for most of the first period as a matter of fact, but the Preds couldn’t capitalize….their REAL weakness is their goalie though….he looked VERY bad….they were down 4-1 midway through the 3rd period and tried to mount a comeback (4-3) but ended up giving up an empty netter which sent everyone to the doors….

I got home and changed again (I set a record for changing clothes yesterday!)….then we headed out to this house party….there was a keg and there were women….so needless to say I had fun….there was supposed to be another party, but it got cancelled midway through for a lack of interest….that’s how it goes in Nashville sometimes….hit or miss….

Anyway about the pictures….so I sit down on the couch and I’m having a conversation with a girl who will remain nameless….and so we get to talking about how i’m “aloof” (I KNEW old girl from Spelman wasn’t alone in thinking that about me!!!)….and somehow or another the fact that I have/had pictures of her on here became a point of contention….I was also asked to remove ANOTHER picture from here….and even earlier in the day people had picture requests….

Where is all of this going you say?….well I’ll tell you….this site ain’t free….I pay monthly for the hosting and yearly for the domain rights….although I put in a great deal of effort to entertain my readers it’s NOT really for my readers, it’s for me….so I’ll put the pictures I WANT up here….and if you see your picture up and you don’t want it there, e-mail me at calvin@killacal.net and I’ll take it down….fair enough?….but yeah in the future I won’t be putting photo galleries up unless it’s fully understood by ALL involved parties that that’s where the pictures are going….

Now I’m going to go look for my extra hour of sleep!

I was going to do another trivia thing….this time movie quotes….I’m getting it together still though….I was working on it in class today as a matter of fact, but it’s not quite what I want it to be yet…

The Friday Shout Outs thing was VERY short lived….I don’t have anyone to shout out this week….

Tomorrow is Community Day here at Meharry….SNMA is doing health screenings….so I guess I need to get some rest….

I guess I’m not as eventful as Max thinks….

Ever since I heard Morehouse was playing Clark-Atlanta University for homecoming I KNEW it had potential to be the biggest and best homecoming in Morehouse’s history….

I had the date marked in my head as a “can’t miss” event….and even though I had proclaimed at the end of last year’s festivities that it was my last time for a while I just KNEW I was going to go….

Then I got my schedule of classes and saw that my block of exams occurs on the next Thursday and Friday….but I figured I could just make sure I had my act together BEFORE I left for homecoming….nothing could stop me from going….

And now, things have fallen apart….I have a presentation to do in Pathology, which wouldn’t be a big deal ordinarily, but because I’ve been slacking lately it is now….I can’t afford to miss class and basically I just need to get my shit together….

So in closing….I won’t be going to homecoming….for the first time in 7 years….I’m disappointed…it sucks….I’m out…..

Folks, it’s official

I’m the laziest man on Earth….

There are millions of things I’m supposed to have done….people want me to post pictures of this….or make slow jam CD’s to get judged….all sorts of things people want me to do….and I really want to do them….

But I’m not….I have a motivation problem….I have all intentions in my heart and head….but not in my arms and legs….

Yeah I know, you are disappointed….I got a call earlier today from someone (she knows who she is) yelling at me….I just had to tell her frankily that I’m mired in mediocrity….

I mean I did do a couple things….I FINALLY e-mailed Ericka a picture I promised her I would….and me and OJ did a show on Shootin The Gift….and I made it to the NFC Championships in Madden….and I read something for EACH of my classes at school….I just didn’t do what YOU wanted me to do (you = those who had expectations for me that I didn’t meet)….sorry!

I ALMOST didn’t write this entry….I’ve been that unmotivated….dah well….

I actually started on this entry yesterday and made a mistake and pressed the evil back button on my browser….so I said “eff it!” and did other things….

So I guess now is as good a time as any to give a play-by-play on the weekend….

Friday afternoon shortly after writing my last entry me and Geoff hit the road….we were on a 10 mile stretch of I-40 for 45 minutes starting right outside of the Bellevue Mall area because of construction on a bridge….but once we got through that it was smooth sailing….we made a stop at Schlotzky’s Deli where i had a mustard sandwich with other stuff (in other words they put TOO much mustard on it)…but it was still good….

We arrived in Memphis around 7:30 or so….our hotel (the Benchmark Best Western) was TERRIBLE with a capital TERRIBLE!…..the workers had much attitude….they didn’t carry our bags yet DEMANDED a tip….they had people coming up to me LIKE I DIDN’T have good training….”You know it’s standard to tip the bellhop….they’ve been talking shit about ya’ll”…NOT when he didn’t carry my bags and said, “You gone be tipping right???”….that don’t cut it!

Anyway we headed over to the Holiday Inn next door where the conference would be taking place all weekend….I met up with Johnny and Jamila, who coordinated the conference and got our bags and t-shirts….most of our delegation left a little bit later than Geoff and I because they had a quiz, so by the time they arrived they had missed the icebreaker and the initial event….I was more concerned with making sure they got checked in to their rooms without any incident similar to what we went through….

When I was satisfied with that, me and Geoff went out to Beale Street….it was a little cold out so we decided to get some beer to warm us up (right I KNOW that’s really logical!)….they had “Big Ass Beers” for $5 which were about 32 ounces….they also had wrist bands available which let you into ANY club or bar all night long for free….so after giving it some thought we decided that was a good investment….

We then headed to Wet Willie’s….that’s where things got a little hazy….we asked what the strongest drink was and were informed it was the “Call-A-Cab”….now I should have known then what the deal was, but I went ahead and ordered one….we got a chance to look at the drink menu and saw that one of the ingredients was a 190-proof alcohol (for all of you non-drinkers 190 proof =95% alcohol….for reference….most vodkas are 80 proof)….so we sat and drank 3 of those between us, and soon were joined by Kasha and Renee who had one apiece….after we finished our drinks we went to two more spots that I don’t really remember too well….

On the way back to the hotel Geoff wanted to get something to eat….so we went into some restuarant where I took a quick nap….then during the walk back to the hotel, I left a little bit of my mustard sandwich from earlier in the bushes by some building….somehow I managed to get my contact lenses out and get some sleep for the next morning which started at 8 AM….

I got a wake up call from the team MVP Ericka and the front desk at the hotel and somehow made it out at 8:20….I got some coffee, checked on the status of my members and listened to the panel discussion on HIV/AIDS….by 9 AM almost everyone from our delegation was there….

I’ve got to mention, our delegation was GREAT….I was really happy with the people Meharry brought to represent us, I’m sure that the rest of the student body would have been proud as well….all told we had 22 members representing….

The region as a whole really accomplished everything we set out to do during our HIP Corp (HIV prevention and education) training and our meeting….the meeting had a friendly vibe and in my opinion went very well….we have some pretty good leadership in place in Region X….

After the meeting (which included lunch) there was a Residency Fair (which is like a college fair for Medical Students basically)….I got a chance to talk with some program directors at a few hospitals and they all were very informative….I even got a chance to talk at length with an Anesthesiologist who really pretty much sold me on making my career in that field, provided my tests go well….

After heading back to the room for about an hour I headed over to the closing banquet….the room we were in had a really nice view and the atmosphere was really nice as well….unfortunately I had to head back into Nashville for a prior obligation so I had to “eat and run” and I felt guilty about doing so….it wasn’t quite the way I wanted to end the weekend after the hospitality that UT-Memphis showed us but it was out of my control….and we will all meet again in New Orleans….

Once I got back to Nashville I was TIRED….I still managed to show my face at a school related function….saw a few faces and did the social thing….I had fun….even managed to run into someone I’d been meaning to catch up with….

Yesterday was a lazy day….as is USUALLY the case Nashville got a day full of blowouts/boring games….I got a chance to talk to my boy Rashard who got me up to speed with the things happening in Atlanta….

All in all it was a good weekend….of course I took pictures….I’ll get them up here sooner than later….

I’m officially done with the Friday Five….partly because I don’t have any food in my refridgerator to speak of and partly because the questions have gotten dumb!….

So instead i’m going to start giving weekly shout outs to people who for whatever reason have made my week fun/interesting!

So first up is Ericka….Ericka is the Treasurer for the Student National Medical Association….she is one of the MAIN reasons for us being able to go on this trip to Memphis this weekend….Ericka is ON it….she’s the greatest!

Second is TEH CARMEN….Carmen turned 20 years old today….She’s the finest, best dancing girl in Columbia, Missouri….she is also the most militant girl I know….more militant than Drea and that’s saying alot….

Next up is Arie….Arie has a big booty….Arie takes REALLY nice pictures….and also I should mention she has a really big booty….and she’s nice even if she’s a little crazy (she likes C-Murder)…oh…and she has a big ole booty!

Then there is Martha….Martha, Martha, Martha….what can I say….she’s funny, she’s smart, she’s in Boston dealing with MADNESS….she makes good AIM conversation!

Shout out to Max, the leader of the land of Bolivion….dude what is your official title?….are you an Emperor?….Do your citizens pay taxes?….can I have an offshore banking account in Bolivion?

Shout out to Deah, because she will get mad that I’m giving shout outs and didn’t give her one (and anyone else who will feel that way this is your shout out as well)….

Shout out to the Meharry people who are anonymously reading this looking for me to say something bad about you….I don’t feel negatively about too many people right now though….
