…And Knowing Is Half The Battle….

Remember that from G.I. Joe, when they’d randomly pop up with some type of safety tip/advice for kids at the end of the episode. That was creepy!

Anyway, since I’ve come out of hiding at Meharry, I’ve been confronted once again with one of my major pet peeves. NOSEY MUTHAFUCKING PEOPLE!

Like, I don’t mind people knowing things about me, clearly, I mean I have a flipping website where I pretty much air all of my dirty laundry, you know. So you’d think that by now people would know that I failed my step the first time I took it….I HAVE NOT retaken it. Yes I took time off to get my shit together, it’s none of your flipping business what I did during that time, why the EFF do you care? They should know per Meharry policy that you CANNOT be enrolled in rotations if you haven’t passed step 1, and hence I haven’t been doing anything Meharry related….I DIDN’T match, I DIDN’T graduate.

I don’t mind so much “new” people asking me about stuff, I mean it is weird. I SHOULD be out of here. What bothers me are the people who KNOW…or think they know and just want to ask to be nosey….like you REALLY don’t care…I know it and you know it…you just want to satisfy your curiosity or WORSE want to ask for someone else who is just being nosey PLUS doesn’t even know me. Tell them to have some balls and ask me!

I hate busybody people talking yang behind people’s backs. Especially when the Killa ain’t NEVER scared to tell you the truth if asked directly. Just don’t ask the next person, ya heard????

If you know someone who wants to know about the Killa and what the Killa is doing and why he’s doing it, send them TO the Killa…send them to this website first as a matter of fact and let em ask me themselves.

A Lump Of Coal!

I spoke too soon. Whoever it was that had that wireless connection went ahead and encrypted that bad boy. I guess I was downloading too much por….I mean ummmm….youtube movies, yeah…that’s it…

Anyway, the Lord givith and the Lord taketh away!

Today was the hardest worked day in a LONG time. I was toting (ain’t that an old black person’s word….tote) boxes, here and there, hither and yon, to and fro. Passing out boxes, moving stacks of boxes, running around the hospital like an aimless fool, you name it I did it today….and now….now your boy is tired….and had his fingers crossed that they didn’t get him for his electricity today! (they didn’t)

Hopefully tomorrow will be less stress filled….

The Killa DID eat well at the White Coat ceremony though….three plates good….people were sleeping on those soft cheeses!

That’s all for now in Killa-ville!

Thank You Wireless Claus!!

Somebody in my building has an unencrypted wireless internet connection active and BUDDY let me tell you, I’ve been using it all weekend!

Yesterday in a drunken rage, between beers, I said, what the hell and decided to hook my raggedy laptop up and see what was what, partially because I saw old girl who was getting my music last year and I was reminded that I prolly wasn’t the only person in that had wireless!

But yeah…speaking of yesterday….the Killa acted a fool briefly.

Some chunky chick with a bad wig and a smoking habit comes up to me while I’m sitting minding my own business drinking a beer and says, “Sup Kanye West….Oh my bad” So I told her to turn around, go talk to her friends, and don’t bother coming back to say anything else to me. She didn’t take too kindly to that.

In hindsight I WAS a tad mean about it, but I really didn’t feel like being bothered with someone trying to humor themself at my expense. Usually I just ignore stuff like that (it happens more often than you’d think….but I always hear it/am aware of it)….I guess last night I had enough alcohol and a shortage of patience and that added up to fireworks. We went back and forth very passive aggresively….she talked unkindly about my looks, I did likewise and advised her to get a bra for her sagging breasts to give her stomach some room to breathe. Then me and the homies Wendell and Chuck went to Mickey D’s.

I didn’t write about bowling did I? Well the Killa rolled out with the Freshmen the other night. The homie Laveil (and I hope I spelled his name correctly) looked out for a poor brother and sponsored a night of bowling shenanigans (and a drink to boot). The Killa’s lifetime streak of under three digit bowling scores is in tact, I’m pleased to announce!

What else is there to say? Umm…I enjoy my job. My two medical coworkers are hilarious (each in their own way). I’m having fun between stressful overblown crisises.

I’m not closing anything anytime soon people….and that offhand mentioning on the last entry wasn’t a cry for attention at least not conciously, I promise….I was speaking more in terms of not renewing in December…..that’s a ways away…..we’ll see how things go…thanks for coming out of lurkerdom though…LOL

Never Too Busy

I’m very much a liar! The past two weeks have been incredibly busy. What with the new freshmen and stuff coming in and even more tests to distribute, PLUS keeping watch over the pre bac students. It’s like Jigga said in “A Million and One Questions” can I get a minute to breathe??

The Killa is branching out though….meeting new people, doing the same old things….telling the same old pirate jokes….flirting/harrassing women….going to lunch at P.F. Chang (thanks again!)…washing ALL my clothes (thanks Dr. D.D.!)….

It’s officially official…no one reads this old rag anymore…perhaps I should stop writing over on myspace….but then I don’t think anyone reads that one either….

One or the other is going to close….maybe the one I pay for….

Today is Juneteenth….

Some of y’all NIGGAS still ain’t free….

Skewing Toward The Negative

It’s human nature to want to skew your thoughts toward the negative. Very few people think about the “pros” in making a decision, it’s always the “cons” that weigh in the most.

I talked to my father this morning and part of our discussion led to the decision to write this entry on this father’s day.

I was going to write about two of my sorry ass uncles, in particular my father’s brother….but I’ve decided not to. It’s too easy to get caught up and write a diatribe about negative people and the negative stuff they do to make everyone elses lives as manic and miserable as their own.

Instead I want to take a moment and thank every Black man out there who has been a father or father figure to someone, especially someone you didn’t have to (had no biological ties). I was somewhat lucky in that my father was always there in some way, shape, or form. He wasn’t always financially able, but I knew I could at least talk to him. I knew where he was. I knew that he cared and that he loved (and still does) me.

Thank you to the black men who have been positive role models and always kept in mind that actions say more than words. Thank you to the men in my life who have lived their lives in a way that I could copy and be proud and pass down eventually.

My heroes aren’t rich, well most of them aren’t, and if they do happen to be wealthy, it’s not their wealth I admire. That stuff can go just as easily as it came. My heroes are men of integrity. Men who behind closed doors are as trustworthy as they’d be in front of a national audience. Men who have principles and value the lives and well being of their fellow man.

A friend of mine on myspace wrote a great piece on men, and what being a man has turned into. I was just complaining to my sister the other day about this very thing. Thank you to the men in my life who have been “a man’s man”. Those who taught me the value of a firm handshake and looking someone in the eye and giving your word. In a day and age where it seems that some (not most or all, but a large enough number) men have begun to take a soft demeanor and carry themselves with a code of ethics and behavior that would make their grandfathers shudder, I’m glad to have had the examples of manhood that I’ve had.

To the fathers and role models out there, Happy Father’s Day!

Being Broke = Being Lame

To any kids who may be reading this. First of all, if you are a kid for real, stop reading this….for real…well at least after my lesson for the day, this is a grown people’s website, go to facebook or something (note, not Myspace).

Anyway to the kids who will stop reading after I say this. When you get older and start having to budget money to live. SAVE MONEY. Don’t go buying iPods and stuff if you KNOW you won’t be able to afford it down the line, even if it makes the walk from your apartment to your job a little more bareable. Don’t go on trips to Detroit, Atlanta, and Phoenix. One or two of them maybe but not all three! Learn to say no, even if you are going to miss some GREAT kicking it.

Because a night will come like tonight, when people are putting bids in and all sorts of stuff and you will be stuck at home, playing dress up, but KNOWING you aren’t able to come out and kick it. You will have to drink two reed stripes and the rest of your jack and get drunk by yourself, and only losers get drunk by themselves!

Being broke is no fun, and people don’t like the broke nigga in the crew who is begging for rides AND drinks. People will give you a ride if you are fun to have along, but not if you are gonna be sober as a church mouse.

Eating with PJ and the Mommy

Yesterday I got a chance to go out to eat with two of my favorite people on the planet.

My boy PJ’s vocabulary is growing EXPONENTIALLY. It’s scary. He can say stethescope better than I can say it! And EVERYBODY loves PJ, everywhere he goes. Like when I get a car, I’m going to start taking him on trips to the zoo and such in “Fresh Prince” like efforts to pick up women (like he did with Cousin Nicky).

Me and his mother were trying to have grown folks convo and PJ would say something to clearly interject himself….it’s hilarious….right now in PJ’s world it’s clearly about him and it’s aight with Uncle Cal!

Thank you The Mommy for making it happen! You da best!

Things The Killa Enjoys Right Now

What follows is a semi-random list of the things that the Killa currently enjoys in life…enjoy:

The last fifty seconds of Whitney Houston’s “I’m Every Woman” video. Link here. First of all she wasn’t on crack/coke/whatever the eff she’s on right now at the time. Secondly, she looked BEAUTIFUL pregnant. Thirdly, the moment when she says “Chaka Khan….CHAKA KHAN…” is one of my favorite musical moments ever, with one of my favorite voices shouting out another of my favorites. Fourthly, TLC back when I used to love Chilli is featured pretty prominently. Lastly, Whitney KILLS the last chorus….

The entire Lionel Richie “Hello” video! Link here. I gave more thoughts on this on my myspace today. Check it out.

The Power Rangers parody from the dudes who made the Juggernaut video! Link here. Man I thought the Juggernaut video was hilarious. This one is ALMOST as funny, if not funnier at times. My little cousins used to watch way more Power Rangers than the law should allow. So to hear these guys parody it makes my day!

The majority of the pre-tests being OVER with. Nuff said! No more proctoring after tomorrow!!

The great Germany versus Poland match earlier today. As mentioned yesterday it’s ALWAYS more fun to watch a game with someone from the country playing. There was a German dude watching it today. He was on the edge of his seat, living and dying with each goal attempt! You know what, I’m enjoying the World Cup period!

Summertime….it’s almost upon us! It already FEELS like it. Look out for the first Killa Cal renegade BBQ on the Meharry ampitheater….if you wanna get on the planning committee holla at ya boy!

Another Long Day

Today was better than yesterday, but still long.

Students think that taking a bunch of tests is boring and sucks, and they are right, but let me tell you, proctoring/sorting/keying tests is no flipping walk in the park! Then on top of that people not being punctual and pushing back the times for EVERYONE really grinds my gears!

The highlight of my day though, was EASILY slipping away to watch the Brazil vs. Croatia match in the student lounge. A little while into the match Dr. Fatima-Lima who is the grad school dean is ALSO Brazilian. You talk about passion for the game! She was into it. It was almost as fun watching and talking to her as it was to watch the game itself.

Brazil didn’t look as strong as I expected, but hey, they did enough, and MUCH more than the pitiful American effort.

So like….the Killa needs a benefactor…..I’m getting desperate………more to come on the myspace page…..
