Uncle Buck is one of my favorite movies….

Not just because it was funny, or had John Candy, or a pre-Michael Jackson influenced Macaulay Culkin….it goes deeper than that….

See when I was a kid (from about 8 till about the age of 16 or so), I was like a smarter, more acid tongued version of the teenaged daughter Tia….I was as nasty as they come….I talked back to my mom and pretty much everyone else except my dad….

I was a messed up kid for real….getting popped in the mouth and stuff only temporarily calmed me down….I couldn’t really be stopped effectivly for long….

Anyway, my mom used to attend night classes to get her teacher’s ceritification so she used to have people babysit us pretty often….

More often than not our babysitter was Sandi….

Me and Sandi used to go AT it….I would get smart with her and she’d give it right back to me….my mom would kinda give in after awhile, but Sandi would NEVER back down….sometimes she would take that extra step to get the upper hand on me….not unlike Uncle Buck’s dealings with Tia….

Unlike the movie, it took MUCH longer than two hours or even a week to resolve our differences….I had to mature and understand what a little jackass I was….

Now that I’ve gotten older I can look back and laugh at what a dumb kid I was….but sometimes I still feel terrible for how I used to act….

I used to go up to Sandi’s job while I was at Morehouse and talk with her….I’m glad she didn’t hold my obnoxious behavior against me…she really helped me grow up….

Oh well, let me get back to the movie….
